United Arab Emirates – Entry Update – With immediate effect , permission will be granted to enter the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Sri Lanka:

The removal of restrictions will be applicable to the following categories:

· Holders of valid UAE resident visa

· Members of the medical force/staff including Doctors, Nurses and Medical Technicians

· Staff/Employees of Educational Sector, including Professors and Teachers, those who teaches at Universities, Colleges, Schools and Institutions in the UAE

· Students who are currently studying in the UAE

· Those who are holding a valid visa, on humanitarian grounds and/or cases (i.e. family reunion)

· Employees/Staff of Local and Federal Government entities

· Those who undergo medical treatments in UAE

All passengers who are permitted to enter, must ensure the following preventive measures are applied:

1. Hold a VALID Negative Covid-19 Test certificate taken within 48 hours before departure and is issued from an approved health service, which use QR code System.

2. Conduct a Rapid PCR test taken within 4 hours before boarding the aircraft in the departure country.

(Rapid PCR Test facility is now available at Bandaranaike International Airport with an cost of LKR 7,500/- and attached the media release issued by the Airport and Aviation Services Sri Lanka (Pvt) Ltd for further information)

3. Undergo a PCR test at the arriving airport.

4. General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs of UAE approval required and please find below link :

- The passenger shall submit a request through the website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, for the necessary approval; via the website https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/Smart_OTCServicesPortal/ReturnPermitService.aspx

NOTE - permissions granted by the GDRFA before 5th August 2021 will NOT be acceptable. Permissions from the GDRFA issued on 5th August 2021 onwards are valid.

Availability of Rapid PCR Testing Services at BIA

Passengers with destination Dubai have the opportunity to travel as Rapid PCR testing facility is now available at Bandaranaike International Airport. This service will be available from the 14AUG21.

Cost of the Rapid PCR testing service

Cost for this service would be LKR 7,500/- per person and the payment can be made at the airport sample collection site either by cash, credit card or through a bank transfer prior to obtaining the service.

Passengers are also given an advanced payment/pre-payment option that can be handled directly with Asiri Laboratories, in order to decrease processing time at BIA.

Dubai Residents

Dubai visa holders must apply for pre entry approval through General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Passengers must have a valid COVID 19 test certificate issued within 48 hours between the time of sample collection and scheduled flight departure. Only COVID 19 PCR test reports from certified labs that issue a QR code linked to the original report will be accepted.

Passengers must complete a COVID 19 PCR rapid test within 4hrs of their departure flight. (Rapid antigen test will not be accepted)

Passengers must complete a COVID 19 PCR test on arrival in Dubai.

UAE Nationals are exempted from the above requirements but subject to COVID 19 PCR test on arrival in Dubai.
